A short animated film about Wayne the Stegosaurus. This is adapted from a children’s poem by Kenn Nesbitt.

Watch this video with your children, and then try some of our teaching and activity ideas below.

Teaching Ideas and Resources:

English

  • Listen to the poem. Can you make a list of all of the rhyming words?
  • Can you identify the rhyming pattern in each verse?
  • Make a list of nouns, adjectives and verbs that are used to describe Wayne.
  • Read the original poem on the author’s site. Could you perform this poem to an audience?
  • Find out more about the author and use the information to create a biography.
  • Could you write another verse to add to this poem?
  • This poem is very negative about Wayne the Stegosaurus! Can you make a poem to describe his positive qualities?
  • Write your own short story about Wayne.
