Islamic Patterns

The documents, available for download below, require children to investigate shapes and their properties, based on an Islamic Pattern.

1. Look at the repeating pattern of shapes, identify the different shapes and colour them.
2. Identify the properties of different shapes and find the number of internal triangles and the sum of their degrees.
3. Find a rule to explain the growth in the size of the triangles.
4. Is there a connection between the number of sides of a regular polygon and its diagonals?
