International Youth Day is celebrated on 12th August each year. The day ‘focuses on measures to strengthen national capacities in the field of youth and to increase the quality and quantity of opportunities available to young people.’
Here are some suggested teaching ideas…
- Spend the day thinking about how we change as we grow older. What different things are we able to do at different ages?
- Think about how people of the same age might have different opportunities depending on where they live. How can we encourage greater equality?
- Make an acrostic poem based on the word ‘YOUTH’ (see Resources below).
