For children to practise using the past tense, photocopy a page from a β€˜Where’s Wally?’ book. The children can think of sentences that describe what different characters were doing at the time, e.g. Yesterday, I played music on my violin, etc. The kids loved this activity.

For the plenary, they read out their favourite sentences, and the rest of the group had to guess which person in the picture it describes.
