4) Young children can think of objects in each category, which begin with the letters at the top of each column. As a class, you can then discuss the answers, and complete the table on the board. Older children can copy the layout, think of answers individually or in groups, and complete the table in their books. The table above could be completed as follows:
This activity could also be used to reinforce the children’s knowledge of the different types of words (e.g. nouns, adjectives, verbs), as you could use the word types as categories.
