So Bonehead volunteers to be the dino-kids lookout whenever they go into the jungle to play. Unfortunately, he is the original boy-dinosaur who cried wolf, or in this case, GIGANTOSAURUS!

  • Look at the pattern of rhyming words in the story. Can you make your own collection of rhyming words?
  • Can you find any examples on onomatopoeia in the story?
  • Make a list of words that could be used to describe the Gigantosaurus.
  • Discuss how the dinosaurs characters are similar / different.

  • What are ‘herbivores’?
  • Find out about the different kinds of dinosaurs mentioned in the story. Can you write a report about each one?
  • Create your own dinosaur quiz using the dinosaur information at the back of the book.

  • Use art software to create your own images of dinosaurs.

  • Compose a melody that could be used in a film adaptation of this story.

  • Create a timeline that shows different periods of history (including the times when dinosaurs were alive).

PSHE

  • Bonehead lies repeatedly in the story. Why does he do this? How does it make the other dinosaurs feel?
