When teaching about the different countries around the world, make a massive papier mache map of the world.
Focus on all of the features of the landscapes, e.g. the mountains etc. Paint the different continents different colours and then get the children to make flags for all of the dfferent countries.
My class have drawn pictures of hills, animals, trees, pyramids, buildings etc as well. I have developed this into a very detailed map of the world which the children love and are proud of.
They have also learnt a great deal from it. Be aware, it takes a lot of time and effort to do this, but it is worth while.

The landscapes and locations in the Myst games are all incredibly detailed. They are extremely useful from a teaching point of view as they can lead to a wide range of learning opportunities.
