Reading Chart Display

This is a chart with the squares numbered in 5's or 10's, on which the children move their names, to show how many times they have read at home. They are only allowed to count times when an adult has signed in their reading record to say they have read. It worked really well to encourage reluctant readers to read more at home. For those who still do not read very often, they are allowed to count times they have been listened to in school too. The leaves either side of the chart have the children's own personal reading targets - they chose them so they are everything from 'i want to read thicker books' to 'i want to read with more expression' etc.
