Agatha Christie Ideas

Age Range: 5 - 16

Agatha Christie was a British crime writer of novels, short stories, and plays. She is best remembered for her detective novels and short story collections (especially those featuring Hercule Poirot or Miss Jane Marple), and her successful West End plays.

Here are some suggested teaching ideas:

  • Find out about the life of Agatha Christie and write a biography for her (see Resources below).
  • Try to write your own detective story.
  • Look on a map and find the places where Agatha Christie set some of her stories.
  • Find out about the different characters that Agatha Christie wrote about. Can you find similarities / differences between them?
  • Make an advert to promote one of her stories.
  • According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Agatha Christie is the best-selling novelist of all time. Could you design a certificate / award for her? Can you find out how many books she sold?
  • Think of some questions that you would have liked to ask her, if you had the chance?
  • Create a timeline showing some of the main events of Agatha Christie's life.
