In 1666, the Great Fire of London destroyed two-thirds of the City. It started (on 2nd September) as a small fire accidentally in Pudding Lane in the City of London and raged for four days as an enormous fire.
Here are some suggested teaching ideas:
- Write a newspaper report that tells the story of the Great Fire of London.
- Write a diary entry from the point of view of somebody living in London at the time of the Great Fire (see Resources below).
- Could you make your own models and recreate the Great Fire, taking appropriate safety precautions?
