Go Temperature Hunting!

Age Range: 5 to 11

When learning about temperature, ask children to think of (and, if possible, find) places and objects which have different temperatures around the school. They can record these items on paper, or use a camera to take digital photos of them.

The children could also record the places / objects on a scale, using the template below:

If a thermometer is available, the children could measure the appropriate temperature and record it on the sheet too. Obviously, you will need to remind children about safety issues with touching objects that are too hot / cold.

This could also be a homework activity, where children have to identify places and objects with different temperatures in their home.
