We wanted to do something similiar to the Olympic Games. So, we chose 5 activities:
- Cross country skiing - taking a carpet square, flipping them upside down and placing their feet in the middle and skiing around the hallway.
- Bobsledding - we took a large folded gymnastics mat with six scooters under the mat. Four students were on the mat and two were pushing them around the rope lighted track.
- Figure skating - laminate in place inside the rope lighting, the team wore pillow cases on their feet. They chose a 2 minute song, they had to do one spin and one jump. All six team members had to participate in the two minute session.
- Curling - I actually purchased a curling set about 5 or 6 years ago and we just improvised the game a little.
- Snowman building - the teams must bring their own snowman building materials, they have five minutes to build a three tier snowman with a face and it had to be 5' tall.
Our lunch room cooks were our judges for figure skating and snowman building. Medals were awarded for each event. We took CDs and spray painted them gold and bronze, and put ribbon through the middle to make our medals.
