Musical Notation Resources

The printable resources below can be used to help your children to learn the names and meanings of a variety of musical symbols. Large posters are available, along with smaller printable cards.

You can use them in your lessons in a variety of different ways:

  • Print the posters out and use them on a display in your classroom or music room. Refer to them regularly during your music lessons and activities.
  • Show the children the posters and ask them to make their own versions. How could they improve them?
  • Challenge your class to make a single poster that includes the information on all of our posters.
  • Print the small cards, laminate them and give them to your children to use as a reference tool.
  • Print the cards and ask your children to learn the names and meanings (possibly as a homework activity).
  • Show the children a music score and ask them to find some of the notes and symbols on these posters.
