The teacher should put up a headline from the news on the board, replacing each letter in the headline with a small flat line. The children then play hangman in the usual way (suggesting letters) until the whole headline is revealed. Then a child must explain the story behind the headline and any possible discussion on it.
This can lead to interesting discussions, as well as them making children interested in what is happening in the world around them through the media and other outlets (something which is mentioned a few times in the UK National Curriculum).
