I really recommend all teachers have a copy of a CD by "Black Lace". Hits such as "Super Man", "Music Man", "Agadoo" and "Hokey Cokey" are ideal for waking children up and injecting some fun into the day. My children love finishing the day with a dance to some fun music and I have tried it at the start of those lessons where you can see children looking sleepy. On an educational level it also improves co-ordination and the ability to follow instructions. I currently use this with a Year 4 class but think it would be suitable for all ages. Sarah has also suggested the following: I
use music to help with handwriting! When the music stops they have
to write the letter "LETTER" with "BODY PART", so for example x
with your nose, b with your elbow, t with your big toe. Great for
body vocabulary too.
