How do you do?

I have used this idea with children throughout key stage two. It proves interesting with both new classes for getting to know each other as well as established classes for getting children to communicate with people they might not normally speak to.
Children wander around the room and everytime they come face-to-face with someone they must shake hands and share one fact about themselves e.g. favourite colour, how many brothers or sisters they have. The class then sit in a circle and share the facts they have found out by saying 'I know someone who likes chocolate/has two sisters etc. It allows children to get to know the sorts of people in their class without names having to be mentioned.
