Watching the Clock
Topic: Classroom Management
(This idea was contributed by Sarah Brady)
Age Range: 5 to 11

When children fail to settle when they are sat on the carpet, or have just returned from being out of the classroom for assembly or lunch instead of attempting to settle each individual group or raising your voice, hold out your wrist and look at your watch.

For every minute the children don't quiet down, put a tally on the board and take those minutes of the next playtime....they soon learn to be quieter quicker!
