The Golden Folder
Topic: Classroom Management
(This idea was contributed by a visitor)
Age Range: 7 to 11

I bought an A4 ring binder and decorated it as imaginatively as possible. I also bought some decorative paper and fancy pens.

Every week I randomly select a child using the class register. Each child in the class has to write a positive comment about the selected child. When this is complete, the chosen child can either read the comments privately or to the rest of the class.

The folder is kept on display next to my points jar, creating a positive corner of the class. Children have responded positively to this and it helps to raise self-esteem, as often children are surprised by the comments which have been written about them.
