Stand Up, Sit Down

By Kate Humphrey
Age Range: 5 to 11

Children love this game and it can be differentiated by subject/speed etc.

All children stand up and you call out a sequence - my class do times tables a lot e.g. 5, 10, 15 etc.

The teacher misses out one number on purpose, e.g. 5, 10, 15, 25, 30 etc. When the children think that a number has been missed out they have to sit down as quickly as possible. The last person standing is out.

This is great for recognising sequences and learning tables! You can also count backwards, go in particular sequences etc.
