Roll and Write
Subject: Maths
(This idea was contributed by Gayle Dubofsky)
Age Range: 5 to 7

This game can be played for addition, subtraction, or multiplication.

Each child gets one "die" roll. They then count the dots and write down the number.

Next, they should roll again, count the dots and write the number.

The children fill in the numbers on a pre-made sheet that looks like this:

________+_________=_________

________+_________=_________

________+_________=_________

________+_________=_________

________+_________=_________

(you could also use this format for subtraction of multiplication)

My young children are learning counting and number writing, and most of all having fun. As the children become more proficient in these areas they use 2 dice for each slot.

I always provide "stuff" for the kids to use if anyone needs help counting up!
