Odd and Even Cones

By A Visitor
Age Range: 5 to 11

To teach odd and even numbers, go outside on a basketball court or soccer field and stick pieces of paper on traffic cones and randomly place the cones through out the field or court.

Written on the pieces of paper should be odd or even numbers. On cone one you could write the number 36 and on cone two you could write the number 47 and so on and so on. Write out at least 15 numbers.

Then take the class outside and tell them that when you yell out the word "ODD" the children must run to a cone with an odd number attached to it and when you yell the word "EVEN" they must run to a cone with an even number attached to it.

The game can also teach prime numbers switching the "odd and even" numbers to "prime and non-prime" numbers.
