Magic Maths Box

Contributed by:

Age Range: 5 to 11

This is a very simple task where the teacher asks the class a question about a topic they have been studying. The teacher chooses one child for the answer and asks them to say their answer and how they figured out the sum.

If they are correct, the teacher brings out the "magic maths box" and the child gets to come up to the front. The magic maths box is opaque and the child puts their hand into the box to recieve a mystery prize. I would use an item of stationery but the teacher could potentially use a virtual prize (such as a piece of paper saying extra golden time for example).

An effective way of getting children to think and learn.
