To help reinforce place value to my Yr3 class we have a little teddy bear holding a cocktail umbrella and use the mnemonic Hold Teddy's Umbrella.

It really helps them to think about the HTU and which order they come in. A colleague used it in Yr2 as well and it has helped the children get to grips with Place Value.
