Where would you like to go?

A great idea for an early job or geography time filler...

Hand out an atlas between two, ask the children to draw a detailed map of a country they would love to visit. Ask them to locate the country's capital city and record any important features.

The children love it and it is an ideal way to develop map drawing skills and improve their use of the atlas itself.

Big Earth Explorers

Great idea and you can expand on it by having children research a country they are interested at home as well.  Give bonus points if they can find a reference to their chosen country in pop culture (music, movies, tv).Another option is to have students trace their interests around the world.  Sport fans can research local soccer teams in various countries while music students can find a traditional song from various countries and regions of the world.
