Mike Fleetham has done a brilliant job in writing a scheme of work for introducing children to computers. Rather than dealing with learning how to use software, the ideas in the school aim to teach the following:

• how to use the computer room safely
• the structure and advantages of the computer room
• how to log on / off, and how to shut down / turn on a workstation (computer)
• how to start applications
• how to load and save files in personal / shared areas.
