Historical Documentaries
Subject: History
(This idea was contributed by Kahlia)
Age Range: 7 to 11

When our class did a unit on the Olympic Games, we also decided to learn about the ancient Greeks.

Our classroom was already arranged in groups so each group picked a topic (e.g. food, education, the Greek Gods). Each group had to research their topic and present it in front of a camera as a documentary. We had interviews, news reports and plays.

Each student also had to make their own individual advert based on a sports product, such as a sports drink or pair of shoes designed to make you run faster.

The kids really enjoyed doing this activity and while some of them were rather squeamish at seeing themselves on TV, they all had a lot of fun and learnt something about the ancient Greeks.
