Familiarity with the World
Subject: Geography
(This idea was contributed by Helen)
Age Range: 5 to 7

Children use a digital camera to take photo of themselves and make their own passports... think of a logo for a country, add information about self: DOB / place of birth etc.

Look at the world map and decide where you would like to visit. Then think of how to get there, e.g. if overseas, you can use a plane or boat, travel to nearest city and then go by car/taxi/bus/rail. Encourage the children to use a holiday visit as a starter point. This idea can also be reversed by asking children to plan a route for a child coming from abroad to UK.

Use the internet to investigate details of the country to be visited. You can also bring in packing the suitcase with suitable clothes for the country to be visited, and also try to design a postcard to be sent home.
