Listen Carefully...
Subject: Foreign Languages
(This idea was contributed by Mila Philipzig)
Age Range: 5 to 11

This idea helps children to learn the parts of the face, the body, etc.

All the children should be facing you and "copying" what you are doing. Using your pointing finger, you tap or point to the nose and say it in the target language three times, then you tap or point to another part of the face. For example: die Nase, Nase, Nase, der Mund (the nose, nose, nose, the mouth). You point to the mouth when you say "der Mund" and the children should do the same.

You repeat this and point to another part of the face. But sometime later, you say the word for a part of the face while pointing to another part. For example: die Nase, Nase, Nase, die Augen (the nose, nose, nose, the eyes) but you are pointing to your ears.

The children should be pointing to the part you said (the eyes) but most of them would follow where you point. The children can take turns leading.

You can extend the game to learn parts of the body, at which point you use the stomach as the starting point.
