Recently my 4/5th composite class were looking at family photos during Peer Support Time and a number of children were very interested in the changes they observed. I decided to intergrate our computer time into this interest.

Using a digital camera I took close up facial portraits of each child, one serious and one silly, then we printed them off. We also loaded the photos onto an art program and the children made changes to their faces just for fun. They really enjoyed this and also learnt a great deal about drawing tools in a word processing program.

We later trimmed around the serious photos and drew on art paper bodies to go with them. We put the two together and on the back wrote a riddle type story titled "Who Am I?"

These stories were read to the class by me and the rest of the class had to guess who it was (without revealing the photo). The photos taken were also used in a Powerpoint display (SLIDESHOW) and the children added their own information to each slide having a great time. This made a superb display for Parent Night and many positive comments were heard.

The silly photos were used in another art display where the children had to paste their photo and a cutout from a magazine (school magazine in this case) onto a piece of art paper and complete the background trying to camouflage their pastings. Again a lot of fun was had.
