The Sent Away Game
Subject: Literacy
(This idea was contributed by a visitor)
Age Range: 5 to 11

This can be used for introducing new words, new sounds etc. It is also good for visual and auditory memory.

Make a list on one side of the board of about 5 words, which might be linked to the topics you are teaching.

Draw a big envelope on the other side of the blackboard. Get the children to close their eyes, rub one out and they guess what one is now missing. You can only 'send' it if they guessed correctly.

Write it in the envelope if guessed correctly or rewrite it into the group to be guessed later on.
