Noun Rap
Subject: Literacy
(This idea was contributed by Kirran Morris)
Age Range: 5 to 11

I teach this NOUN RAP at the beginning of the new school year to my classes in Australia. It is a great assembly performance, I add body percussion to keep the beat (children make up their own body percussion too!!!), is a great word wall display and it helps children to remember...have a look below!

Noun Rap

A noun is the name of a person, place or thing,
like Sam in Sydney with a ball of string.

An adjective describes a noun,
like a big, wide smile on a painted clown.

Verbs, verbs, are doing words,
they like to move and fly like the birds, running and jumping, you can often add an ING like, dance and laugh and hop and sing!

An adverb likes to add to a verb and tell you more about the word, it often has an LY on the end, like slowly walk or quickly bend.
