The Magic Book Bag

Contributed by:

Age Range: 5 to 11

I love reading stories to the children and most of them love hearing them but there are the odd few which don't listen, so I came up with the idea of a magic book bag with magic books in it.

I got a gift bag and put a selection of my own books in it. When I introduced this bag to the children, I told them that it was magic. I could only take a book out of the bag if everyone was listening. If someone isn't listening, the book won't come out.

Also, when reading the story, if someone isn't listening, I can't turn to the next page as the pages 'stick together' and I can only turn to the last page so we can't read the story properly. As soon as children start listening again, I can turn to the next page.

The children love this idea and if the story is grabbing their attention enough, it works. When all of the books in the bag have been read, they magically change overnight so the next time we come to choose a book, there is a whole new set to choose from.
