Hopscotch Instructions
Subject: Literacy
(This idea was contributed by Sarah Winslade)
Age Range: 5 to 7

Get children to listen to the instructions for hopscotch. Show them how to play and then ask them to draw their own grid with chalk (outside).

Then back in class ask children to tell you the instructions, or write them down.

My class found it fun and useful to listen, do and practise outside before writing.

(It also taught some of them a new game for playtimes.)
