Age Range: 7 to 11
The teacher records 6 adverts at home and allows the children to watch them in class.
After watching, question the children on certain aspects/ideas etc. Hand out a sheet where the children have to identify:

the product
-
music
-
target audience
-
speech
-
narrator... and anything else you wish to include!
The children love this as it's something a bit different!
They could then use their findings as a starting point for planning / making their own advertisements.
Visit4Info is a wonderful resource for this activity. The website has a huge collection of adverts which you can play online. They even have lots of the older adverts which might not appear on TV any more. Some of the adverts might not be suitable for primary children, so it's best to preview them first!
