This is a simple activity which will help young children to recognise letters of the alphabet!
Here are the simple steps:
1) Collect craft materials such as newspaper, bubble wrap, string, etc.
2) Prepare pre-cut letters, a, b and c for example.
3) Ask the child to glue the materials onto a piece of paper in the shape of each letter. Depending on the child's age, they may need some help and guidance in doing this task.
4) Then... make a picture of something beginning with each letter and stick it down directly next to the letter. This activity benefits a child's development in the following ways:
- They will learn to recognise new letters
- They will begin to associate letters with words and later, with the pictures and objects.
- Hand-eye co-ordination benefits
- New craft ideas and skills will be learnt and hopefully... the child will enjoy it!:)
