The children all sit in a big circle, and in the middle, there are letters of the alphabet on the floor. A child is chosen to sit in the middle of the circle, and is blindfolded, and given a balloon. Another child is then chosen from the circle, and are told which letter they have to look for and collect. The aim is for them to get around the circle, collect the letter, and return to their place without being caught by the balloon. This works best if the child blindfolded sits still in the middle of the circle and reaches out with the balloon, listening carefully to where the footsteps are. They just reach out and try and get their legs with the balloon. All the children in my class love this, and it can be used for numeracy, with number recognition. |
