Objective: Students use their creativity and energy to build realistic looking
structures or objects using only newspapers.
Materials: Two bundles (approx. 2 feet high) of newspapers, String, Tape,
Paper clips
Procedure:
- Teacher will divide the class into teams of three or four students each.
- Tell the students they have a specific amount of time (at least 30 minutes)
to build a realistic looking structure or object out of newspaper. Teacher
should be able to tell by looking at it what it is the teams have built
(i.e. bicycles, bathrooms, etc.).
- At the end of the time period, the items are placed together and all
students sit down.
- Each group chooses one student to be on a judging committee with the
teacher. They choose a winner and runner-up.
Assessment: Everyone gets an "A" for effort!
