Make Salt Dough!
Subject: Design and Technology
(This idea was contributed by Liza Hyland)
Age Range: 5 to 11

I made Salt Dough with my class of Year 2s... Now, some may think this is brave - but it worked really well. Obviously, I'd measured out the ingredients beforehand for them, but they mixed them all together with the water and kneaded it with their hands before moulding them into Whale shapes...

It is easily moved throughout the years... Older children could be given the task of accurately measuring out the ingredients. Whereas, younger children can have the ingredients all ready for them.

What you will need:
> Flour (twice the amount of Salt you use)
> Salt (half the amount of flour you use)
> Water (as much as needed to combine dough)
> Large Mixing Bowl

I used half a cup of salt and one cup of flour, with half a cup of water-ish! - Just to give you a rough idea. This made enough dough for 2 children. Or you could say 4oz of flour to 2 oz of salt.

Let me know how it goes!!!!
